I have a little problem where I can't sit still for too long, hence the scurrying off to Asia. This winter break we decided to do a backpacking trip starting in Hong Kong, followed by Thailand and Vietnam and surprisingly, the trip started off on the right foot. Upon arrival at the airport the airline asked us If we wanted to leave 6 hours later in exchange for 400 dollars each, a hotel for the night and a flight upgrade. Being the broke college gals that we are, obviously we said hell yea and made our way to the hotel where we threw the $1200 on the bed and rolled around in. Actually though. A lot of rolling.

6 hours + a 15 hour flight later we arrived in Hong Kong, the first Asian country I have ever been to. Hong Kong is a super cool city with a ton of hustle and bustle. It reminded me a lot like New York City and even have an area called Times Square which is basically a replication of the big 🍎's Times Square- only the billboards read "🈺🈯️🈳🈲" which means who the hell knows in Cantonese. Needless to say, we got lost basically every second but I guess that's half the fun when traveling!
We explored majority of the city, watching the light show, going up the famous "peak", seeing the skyline, hitting up markets, trying local delicacies and some authentic Chinese food and visiting temples. The Chabad in Hong Kong is incredible and we had an amazing meal at the rabbis house, met tons of lovely people and felt very much at home. We also got the chance to explore the H-town night life which has really got it going on. When a club starts blasting Eminem, you know you're in the right place...
Finally, one of my favorite observations was the immense amount of Hong Kongese street performers. The performers strut their stuff around the streets of Kowloon acting like celebs and the crowed goes wild. I think even my shrill voice would have made it big in Hong Kong.
It's been a really cool few days, now off to Thailand. Doh Je Hong Kong!
